Mark Brown Films
Welcome to my online home for super 8 wedding films.
I am a Filmmaker who is inspired by romance... and what's more romantic than two people in love, sharing their wedding day with family and friends?
My love for super 8 cinematography comes from travel… being in different places at different times - from filming the sunrise in Tuscany to the sunset in California. Or the late night buzz of my London streets. No matter the setting, super 8 makes it enchanting, beautiful, authentic. It creates a gorgeous depth that no other video format can produce.
I don't think of myself as a 'wedding videographer' and my films are not your average ‘wedding video’. For me each film is unique, an art form, a collaboration of vintage cameras, keeping it true to the day, and above all... About love.
For more information please take a look at my website, or email me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org
Every wedding film is created using real vintage movie cameras, fresh Kodak stock and developed by one of the leading film labs in Berlin.

SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | CHATEAU LES CARRASSES | FRANCE
Stretching lazily along the Mediterranean from the Côte d’Azur to the Spanish border, the Languedoc is the quintessential South of France… This Cinderella of the south was once overshadowed by gorgeous Provence and the brash Côte d’Azur. Now, she stands as their equal, displaying a discreet charm that her more-visited siblings lost long ago…’
Alex and Alex had a stunning wedding set around this incredible chateau, with the actual ceremony held in a sleepy little town just down the road… everything looked incredible in the late autumn sunshine… especially the pastel shades of the wedding attire matching the buildings around them… British summer meets Provence autumn… and then you add vintage film! Perfecto!
Photography was by the amazing Naomi Kenton
‘WOW WOW WOW – it is truly amazing!!! Thank you so much. We’ve just watched it together and you’ve captured the day perfectly and we are over the moon with it!’ -Alexandra
‘…of course I’m biased, but this is the best you’ve done. If you can track views from IP addresses, it will embarrass me if you know how many times we’ve watched it already.’ -Alex

SUPER 8 LIFESTYLE FILM | BIG SUR | CALIFORNIA
I was lucky to recently spend some time with the McBurnie family who invited me along to a secluded beach in Big Sur, one of the most spectacular coast lines in the world, with my trusty Super-8 camera so I could capture the morning their beautiful new daughter Scarlett first met the ocean!
It was a really beautiful moment... and a timeless portrait of the family that she will get to look back on for the rest of her life.

Zoe & Thomas | London
SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | CHELSEA TOWN HALL | DAPHNES | LONDON
2014 is definitely the year for small, cool and intimate city wedding soirees… a registry office, a favourite hang out and a killer dress… so Chelsea Town Hall and Daphne’s Restaurant were pretty hard to resist! ‘As we are not religious we chose the most beautiful registry office in London with the grand steps (confetti), and the Brydon Room was large enough to have an aisle. We chose Daphne’s Restaurant as we love the restaurant already, it’s close to the town hall but it’s also a long established restaurant, since the 60’s. We thought the Venetian conservatory which held our wedding reception would fit very well with our Italian theme (lots of Italian guests!) and we were able to play our own music, and of course the food is so delicious there. They also loved our idea of sharing a huge Tiramisu!’
Zoe was dressed to impress in a timeless dress from a ‘little shop in Lancashire’, with flowers beautifully arranged by (my local florist) Wild At Heart. As a tailor, Thomas designed his own suit; sleek, cool… London in a three piece.
This wedding is one of a growing amount that have chosen to invite a filmmaker over a photographer… ‘We love music from mid 60’s and 70’s and so Super 8 film tugs naturally on our nostalgic heart strings. We love the colour and feel it creates, and without sound seems all the more moving. We have lots of photographer friends but we felt a short Super 8 film would capture the day profoundly and succinctly, and we loved the mood of Mark’s other work. We are delighted with this exquisite video. Mark captured us and the mood of the day exactly. We chose Mark simply on the basis of one other film we saw and he was the first thing we organised for our wedding; I knew he ‘got it’. Everything was easy with him and it was a pleasure to have him join us for the party too. Thanks Mark. We can’t wait to share with our close friends and family' -Zoe

SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | SAN BONIFACIO | TUSCANY
My second week in Tuscany was spent at the beautiful San Bonifacio hotel… and wow… hidden away off a quiet country road connecting Ribolla to La Pesta, it is the perfect five star setting for a secluded Tuscan wedding party. What could be better? Well… having it planned and designed by one of the best in town, Clara Boatto of Chic Weddings In Italy, who has kindly offered to finish the definition of this very spectacular wedding day… ‘East meets West in Tuscany…a beautiful mix of cultures, traditions and international guests characterised this stunning countryside wedding…
The London based couple picked San Bonifacio, a breathtaking wine resort located in the southern and more rural area of Tuscany because they were blown away by its view and its stylish design. Looking at this film you will no doubt understand why…
Clara & Shaun were particularly keen on sharing great food and fine wine with their closest friends and family; but they were as well very attentive to creating a beautiful setting for their celebration with the help of Chic Weddings in Italy, who assisted them in the production of the event. Holding the post ceremony aperitif in the estate olive grove was a must for the bride as it was hosting an elegant ceremony in front of the villa and then reusing the same space for a convivial dinner with long banqueting tables. Everyone worked hard to ensure a quick dismantling and reassembling of the areas surprising attendees with two completely different set ups.
We would define the event as bucolic with a touch of glam..and definitely super fun.’ -Clara

SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | ROOST PUB | HACKNEY | LONDON
There’s a word that really gets me excited when a couple drop me a line; Hackney! What I love about east London weddings are the unusual venues… converted Victorian town houses, dilapidated factories, condemned warehouses, forgotten pubs… made new again by an original idea, a sense of fun and a spirit for adventure… much, in my mind, like Super 8! The Roost pub is just that, ‘We wanted to keep the wedding local and felt a fancy house in the country wouldn’t feel like us or have any connection to who we were. We first saw The Roost on a blog and it was the only venue we visited. We knew it would be the perfect party house and had such a laid back vibe. I loved how there were pockets of rooms people could wander off too and how each floor would host a different stage of the day. The venue made the day feel really homely, a bit like a house party.’Danielle chose the most beautiful dress, a customised Katya Katya Shehurina … her bridesmaids went with Reformation and Matt in a strong Reiss number.
Working alongside me was the brilliant Lisa Jane Photography… I love watching Lisa work, her talent with a Polaroid camera is like no other. I think it is SOOOOO important for filmmakers and photographers to enjoy working with each other… and I would happily work with Lisa at every wedding! ‘We also found Lisa via Rock n Roll Bride blog. Her style was exactly what we were looking for. As soon as we met her we knew we were in safe hands and didn’t need to meet anyone else. I love how her shots have a cool blue/grey palate to them. We were so thrilled with how the images turned out and she made us feel so completely relaxed on the day. We couldn’t recommend her enough.’
On why they chose Super 8 for their big day ‘We were so close to not having the wedding recorded at risk of it being totally cheesy – as soon as I saw Super 8 was an option and it wasn’t a digital after effect we totally bought into it. Trends will come and go but the beauty of film has never gone out of fashion…
I remember watching every film in its entirety on Mark’s website with the girls at work…we were in tears by the end and it was too hard to say no!’ -Danielle

You Are All Things | Los Angeles
YOU ARE ALL THINGS | SUPER 8 SHORT FILM | WEST HOLLYWOOD
It’s been a dream of mine to work with poet Tyler Knott Gregson for some time, I love his work, not just the words but the style in which the words are handed to you. I always wanted to use them in a film. So when I found myself at 4am on Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood using up the last of a roll of film with actress Eugenie West, creating visuals but with no voice, I thought it the perfect excuse to ask if he would like to run it through his typewriter!
Take what you want from it; for me Super 8mm format is like a physical memory, it’s how I recall past events in my life, so to portray it as a memory of a girl (the one that got away, perhaps) seemed like a fitting mix of visuals and style. Enjoy.
Sarah & Gavin | London
SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | SOHO HOTEL | LONDON
Why do I love shooting in the Soho Hotel, London; because it’s slap bang in the centre of the coolest city in the world, and because it also happens to be one of the coolest hotels in the world! There. Easy. So when Sarah and Gavin invited me to film their big day I jumped at the chance. “We love the vibe of Soho and the individuality of the Soho Hotel. There wasn’t really a theme to the day. We didn’t want to pick anything that we would cringe at in years to come so tried to keep it timeless and classic.”
In the theme of Timeless and Classic, Sarah picked a stunning Lyn Ashworth dress and Olivia Couture dresses for her Maids, and Gavin went with a cut Reiss suit. And I want to big up Reiss here, when it comes to a Wedding day they really do tailor (along with Paul Smith) the best looking outfits.
Another reason why I was so darn excited about being at this Wedding was they had hired Joanna Millington to photograph it. Now, I don’t know if you have come across Joanna’s work before… if not, check it out here! Not only is she an incredibly gifted artist, but a wonderful person to have along for the ride…. it is very important to surround yourself with wonderful people on your Wedding day! “We chose Joanna Millington as we really loved her ‘fly on the wall’ style photography.”
“As soon as I saw your films I knew that I had to have one. I instantly fell in love with the style and they’re not like any others out there. They are beautiful, romantic, timeless and are able to capture so much more than a still image. We absolutely LOVE our film. We have watched it over and over again and notice something different each time we watch it.” -Sarah
Why thank you Sarah! If you would like a film of your own feel free to drop me a friendly line directly at email@example.com

SUPER 8 ADVERTISEMENT | LONG BEACH | CALIFORNIA | USA
Last year I was invited to ADVENTURE ALWAYS in LA to create a short film of the event, featuring some of my favourite artists; Jonas Peterson, Ryan Muirhead, Marianne Taylor, Jesh De Rox, Fer Juaristi and many many others. It was incredible to be around these inspiring artists who have shaped my world in one way or another and I feel blessed with the experience. AA is a truly brilliant creative journey, this year it is taking place in sunny Palm Springs, if you are an artist or interested in pursuing a life in the arts it is money well spent. Emma & Peter | Connecticut
SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | ELIHU ISLAND | CONNECTICUT | USA
I cannot stop dreaming of this Wedding. I was invited to Mystic in Connecticut, USA, to film the Wedding of Emma and Peter, two small town sweethearts that tied the knot at the perfect Elihu Island farm. I was punch drunk on the style of Elihu. Firstly, I am a big fan of the yesteryear Americana style; an age of white clapper boards, apple pies on window ledges, picket fences and old Chevrolet trucks! So to immerse myself into that world and to capture it on celluloid was a dream come true! The finished film and photographs, by my dear friend Julie Morawski, made it onto Style Me Pretty which you can see here.
I have decided to re-release this to you beautiful people as it marks the beginning to a month of more American splendor, as later this March I will be heading off to New Mexico and Arizona to film a personal Super 8mm project with the Navajo Native Americans.

Siobhan & James | Preston Court
SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | PRESTON COURT | CANTERBURY
What it is I love about making these films is the never ending stream of wonderful people I get to spend my days with. On the 16th of August 2014 I joined Siobhan & James, their friends and family, on a Victorian carousel in the late summer sun celebrating love; love of friends, love of family, love of good food, strong drink, favourite songs, questionable dance moves, and of course love of love! Preston Court played host, and it is always such a pleasure filming there, ‘The venue was perfect for us because it felt like home. Not that we live in a large country house but, because it felt warm and welcoming without screaming wedding venue! It’s got character, quirky twists and has love in the air, just like our home.’
How beautiful does Siobhan look in that dress… and there is more to it than meets the eye! ‘The dress was found in a pop up vintage shop by the canal in Milan after a night out at Roberto Cavali’s club and was completely by chance (I wasn’t looking). This was exactly how I wanted to find the dress. The designer is Mirco Giovannini.’ The shoes were Louboutin, bridesmaids went with Lindy Bop and James’ slick number was from Ted Baker.
S+J decided to go without a professional photographer, which appears to be a growing trend… they felt there were enough friends with cameras to properly capture the moment, and invested their budget into having a super 8 movie of their day. ‘Life isn’t perfect, but imperfections are beautiful and unique. Super 8 encapsulates this perfectly, with warmth and feeling. We cannot imagine our big day being recorded any other way. It’s all the small things in life that make it so special. A picture says a thousand words, a video says a million. ‘ -Siobhan

Maxine & Anthony | Larmer Tree Gardens
SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | LARMER TREE GARDENS | END OF THE ROAD FESTIVAL
Wedding’s don’t come any more perfect than this. The last time I visited Larmer tree was as photographer with Seasick Steve at end of the road festival a few years back… and wow did it look different! The beautiful chaos of a three day music fest had given way to an all new kind of beautiful… and with it the celebration of Maxine and Anthony’s wedding day. ‘When Ant and I first visited Larmer Tree we fell in love with the breathtaking grounds. As we wandered round each of its unique and quirky nooks and crannies it became clear from our silence that we were each trying to telepathically tell the other that this was the one. With a superb balance of romantic decadence and laid back festival vibes… it was the perfect place to start the most fantastic journey of our lives.’
Photography was by the ridiculously talented Cecilie Harris, who was a real pleasure to work alongside. I hope to be seeing her again very soon. You can check out her very cool website for more information.
On why they went with Super 8 ‘When I first saw one of Mark’s films I cried. It was utterly gorgeous. We were so happy he was part of our day and could capture it through his effortlessly beautiful lenses.’ – Maxine

Jaymay | New York City
SUPER 8 PORTRAIT | NEW YORK CITY | USA
Jaymay is one of my all time favourite musicians, whose sound I've used many times on my films... recently I dropped her a line to see if she would be up for shooting a super 8 video as a thank you. She liked the idea so I jumped on a plane to NYC and we shot this little film in a few hours around the east village. We have remained good friends ever since.
I love making these super 8 portraits, and always on the look out for more characters!
Tina Rodriguez | Austin
SUPER 8 PORTRAIT | AUSTIN | TEXAS | USA
On recent travels to Austin, Texas, I was fortunate enough to be introduced to a rather fascinating character! A spiritual healer, of Mexican and Native American descent, who is also an actress and has appeared in films such as Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds and Death Proof! The beautiful lady in question is miss Tina Rodriguez.
She was such a tranquil person, completely at one with herself, I wanted to bottle some of it up and bring it back home with me to East London. For me it’s comforting to know there are these amazing people out there across the world, waiting to be discovered through my lens.
I’m so honored to have spent time with Tina… and to call her a friend.

Sive & Michael | Seville
SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | HACIENDA DE SAN RAFAEL | SEVILLE
Forty minutes out of Seville you find yourself completely lost in rural Spain, and somewhere amidst the rolling cotton fields and winding dirt roads of Las Cabezas de San Juan you find the Hacienda De San Rafael; a stunning farmhouse literally covered in flowers that come tumbling out of every wall crack, window, drain and doorway that make the hacienda. Sive and Michael wanted a place that was not only a beautiful venue for their party, but also acted as a guest house with all their friends and family staying onsite over the weekend. It was such a gorgeous day, despite the alarms raised over forecast showers (which all narrowly missed the hacienda)… and I’m in love with the how the finished film has come out; Sive’s beautiful dress against a backdrop of pastel yellows, reds and an untamed sky just leaves me in wonder.
'We wanted to say a huge thanks for everything over the wedding weekend.
It was such a pleasure to have you around and we couldn’t have wished for anything better. The end result is beyond what we dreamed of and we feel so lucky to have found you to capture such a special day for us. I think what makes this even more special is hearing and seeing the reaction to friends and family who have watched it. From stories of constantly repeat playing it to tears of happiness from just about everyone! The words “This really is the most beautiful wedding video i have ever seen” have been a regular statement so thank you so much. All the best.' -Sive & Michael
Congratulations guys, and thank you for having me!

Hannah & Olly | London
SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | LONDON
This is one of my first films, and also one of my favourites... not only because Olly and Hannah have remained close friends, but because the whole day was so much fun! It's incredible to look at this beside my new films and see how far my style has developed over the past few years... and also how love shines on super 8, away from the ability to perfect shots and cuts and move process companies... 8mm loves love, and that's what I see here!
Joyce & Ralph | Kensington Roof Gardens
SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | KENSINGTON ROOF GARDENS | LONDON
Flamingo’s in LONDON?! Yep, you read right, we do have Flamingo’s… and where else than on a roof top slap bang in central Kensington! I am writing of course about the famous Kensington Roof Gardens, a somewhat quirky location that boasts not just pink long-legged birds, but a multitude of exotic plants, a Spanish courtyard and bell tower (think British colonial meets spaghetti western) and the best darned view in town! All in all a rather spectacular location for this Lebanese Wedding… and what happens when Lebanon, Spain and London collaborate? Look for yourself!
And check out this cool bride, how amazing is the outfit? With bad-ass Alexander McQueen shoes and a Rosa Clara dress… I think it’s safe to say “traditional” was never on the cards, no no, this was London-chic all the way and Joyce rocked it!
I worked alongside photographer and gentleman, Mr. Mark Alesky … you can find out all about him right here.
“I love it!!!!!!! It looks amazing!! And I love the music! I can’t stop watching it, I must have seen the film more than 100 times already… I can’t stop!!! I’ve even watched all the latests films on your blog… You are so talented, they all look amazing. I just thank my lucky stars I found you and you agreed to film our wedding!! Thank you so so much Mark!!” – Joyce

Sophie & Olly | Dewsall Court
SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | DEWSALL COURT | HEREFORD
I was invited north into the heart of rural Hereford to create the Wedding Film of Sophie and Olly, at the jaw-dropping Dewsall Court! A converted mansion farmhouse, adorned with beautiful furnishings and antiques, with views of rolling landscapes and complete with a pretty little church a stones throw from it’s front door. “Most of the wedding was DIY and handmade, and we couldn’t have done any of it without the help of our amazing family and friends (who are now expert Pom Poms makers and installers!) and the fab crew at Dewsall. Dewsall was the venue of our dreams and we couldn’t have loved the family who own and run it more – Sam and Ananda were just the BEST. We wanted the day to be a reflection of us and to have as much fun as physically possible over one weekend.”
Sophie went with a gorgeous rustic dress from Blackburn Bridal, and her shoulder cover up by Frou Frou Bridal (both American designers). She looked incredible, as did her bridesmaids who were lucky enough to choose the dresses themselves from Coast. Olly and his ushers found their three piece suits from Anthony’s.
“ARGH MARK!! We were SO excited that we broke our promise to each other to watch it together for the first time. As soon as I saw your email we immediately caved and both watched it whilst at work (but on the phone to each other – modern day romance at its best). It’s SUCH a beautiful film – just watching it has filmed me with so much joy. All the happiness from the day has come flooding back in and I now can’t stop grinning like a fool. How were you able to capture the FEELING of the day so well? You’re some kind of wizard with a camera. Everyone says your wedding day whizzes by in a blur and you forget so much of it and I can completely say that is true now. I had forgotten so many of the details and it’s so wonderful to have this moving memory to treasure and show our children one day. We are so so lucky, thank you so much for all your work on it. Many many many many many thanks.” -Sophie & Olly

Sara & Marco | The Hollywood Process
SUPER 8 ROMANCE FILM | BARBICAN | LONDON
What I really love about creating these films is the constant learning...
working with different cameras that push and challenge my style and perception of film format, as well as working with different process labs that offer something different and unique. The majority of my films are processed in Berlin by Andec and then telecined in London with the Widescreen Centre, we have a long history together and they know my exact specifications for exporting the films. But I have also started a relationship with a lab based in Los Angeles, who work on multi formats (8mm, 16mm, 35mm) and create a different style of motion picture. A true HD picture, which lifts Super 8 to a 16mm standard. I am offering this style as an add on to any wedding, lifestyle, engagement film.
Sara & Marco are a lovely couple who recently won my little competition for a free one-reel 'romance' film... which we shot on a cold, blustery but sunny day around the Barbican. This film also marks the start to a collaboration with filmmaking enthusiast Rory, who did the camera work and will be offering his talents as part of Mark Brown films!
'OMG OMG OMG! Mark it is insane in the membrane! Thank you so, so, so much to you and Rory for capturing a little snippet of us both. We will treasure it always. Thank you xxx' -Sara
Kaydee & Frank | Texas
SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | CAMP WALDEMAR | HUNT | TEXAS
I am so thrilled to introduce this new film! I was invited to rural Texas to be a part of Kaydee and Frank’s Wedding at the picturesque Camp Waldemar. Firstly, I have to say, that Lone Star hospitality is quite possibly the best thing ever! Not only did the Wedding party have me at Waldemar for three days of fun and frolics but also showed me about Austin.
The Wedding itself was incredible… Kaydee looked stunning in her Vera Wang dress, as did the Bridesmaids, and the fella’s kept it classical in bow ties! The ceremony took place outside (ampitheater style) under an enormous ancient tree and by the famous North Fork Guadalupe River… it was all very cinematic, and I even got to ride a Long Horn Bull (not my proudest moment, but it was pretty cool)!
It’s safe to say I have made friends for life with these beautiful people and I can’t wait to get back!
“We simply cannot put into words what your film, your presence at our wedding, and your friendship mean to us. You have given us a a gift that we will treasure always, and we love you for that. Thank you for coming to Texas to be with us, for celebrating with us, and for being who you are and doing what you do. We will never forget you and we hope that our friendship will continue on throughout the years. Through many tears and many laughs, we couldn’t be happier with how magical, romantic and truly us the film turned out! Seeing our love through your eyes is the sweetest treat we could ever imagine!” – Kaydee & Frank

SUPER 8 HONEYMOON FILM | COSTA RICA
I recently filmed the wedding of Kaydee and Frank in Texas, and what an incredible wedding it was! But the story doesn’t end there…
Two days later we bumped into each other at Austin-Bergstrom airport as I was flying back to England and they were flying off on their honeymoon to Costa Rica. We sat and shared breakfast before saying goodbye, and although we were off in different directions I felt I was going to Costa Rica also, as I had given them a brand new Canon 514XL camera and two rolls of Kodak film to use on their trip, along with a nifty little camera bag and a homemade instruction manual. When they returned they sent me the films, which I processed, edited and added to their finished wedding (cigar) box!
I am offering this to all couples who fancy taking the beautiful format of Super 8 on their honeymoon. This way not only do you get to relive your romantic getaway over and over, but you also have a wonderful vintage camera to keep and use on all your adventures, making Super 8mm not just a part of your Wedding day, but a part of your life!
For more info drop me a line.
“We LOVED the Costa Rica film mark!! we didn’t do too bad of a job filming either …or you’re just amazing at editing. We can’t wait to see the longer version. Thank you so much… again!!” – Kaydee

Eleanor & David | London
SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | SHOREDITCH | LONDON
Shoreditch Town Hall has to be one of my favourite locations to shoot in, it’s light and airy, simple, the staff are friendly and they are happy for you to transform the room to fit whatever style you have… who could ask for more! “Our wedding would not have come together without the help of our friends and family. All of their efforts helped personalise our day, we were delighted they could be involved and we will be eternally grateful!”
What a treat it was to celebrate with Eleanor and David… they are two of the most delightful characters to be around. Nothing but smiles and laughter the entire day!! Eleanor went with a gorgeous Elizabeth Fillmore dress and Christian Louboutin shoes. David had a bespoke suit from Beggars Run.
And this is where it starts to get really cute; the Bridemaids dresses were made from scratch by Eleanor’s mother using vintage patterns! “The rings were made by our good friend and usher, Douglas Blair. David’s musical background provided the inspiration for the wedding bands. I walked down the aisle to Tiny Dancer by Elton John and have the lyric ‘you’ll marry a music man’ inscribed on the inside of my wedding ring.” And just in case you are as impressed as me, the Bridesmaid earrings are from Tatty Devine.
And if that wasn’t enough… they also had Emma Case there to photograph the day. Emma needs no introduction, she is one of the best in the country and this marks our second Wedding shoot together. You can see her awesome pics of the day here.
“Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaark – we bloody love it! When we were planning our day, we hadn’t budgeted for a wedding Film and we are so, so pleased that we did a complete u-turn and that you were there to capture our day. We are both absolutely delighted with our film – it is AWESOME! It is such an amazing thing to have and it will be fabulous to look back on in years to come. You made everything so easy on the day and we were so glad you were part of our wedding celebrations. Our friend just gave it the biggest compliment when she said ‘it looks so real’. Thank you so, so much, it is everything we hoped for and more xxx” – El & David

SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | BELLS OF PEOVER | KNUTSFORD
I am all about simplicity. It’s a tried and tested formula and guarantees a smooth day of fun, love and plenty of time to do it in! So how could I refuse this pretty little wedding, set in the garden to the Bells Of Peover pub just outside of Knutsford…. And boy did we have a lot of fun making this! Having the one location frees you up to do more creative planning… which seemed to be where Bethany was happiest… going as far as to design her own dress (finished by Agape Bridal Boutique) and Bridesmaids dresses… gulp! The day was furnished with homemade bits and bobs, making it feel like you were standing in their own perfect little snow globe of love. “The Bells or Peover ticked all the boxes. Perfect English country garden for the Tipi’s, Michelin rated – so excellent food, a wonderful management team and not too far from our home town.”
On why they chose Super 8mm format; “Because nothing else would do!!! Having followed you (in a non stalkerish way) before we even got engaged, it was always top stipulation that you filmed our day. Low and behold, you did! Nothing quite captures the romance and warmth of your perfect day like Super 8mm. We never EVER thought it would be possible to recreate the emotions we felt on the big day, that was until we watched our film. Words of praise will never do the film justice. INCREDIBLE! Thank you.” – Bethany

SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | CASTELLO Di BIBBIONE | TUSCANY
Getting an invitation to film in Tuscany is like receiving a bouquet of flowers… working in super 8 creates an interest in light… and Tuscany, in my opinion, is the best light in the world. Locations such as Castello di Bibbione also help! Nestled in the hills near San Casciano, hidden from the country roads below by an ocean of untamed greenery and with views reaching out toward the Monte Serra mountains and all that wild Chianti country in between, it was easy to see why Natalie and Chris chose this location to celebrate their love. ‘It is architecturally stunning, set against the beautiful Tuscan countryside. Understated onsite chapel, amazing views across the terrace for reception drinks and a secret castle courtyard location for dinner and dancing. Only an hour from Pisa and we could accommodate everyone onsite. Plus, we absolutely loved it!! We are planning to return for our first anniversary!’ -Natalie
Natalie chose a timeless Naomi Neoh dress, with her Bridemaids in Ted Baker! Chris went with a french Connection suit.
Photography was by the amazing Lisa and Gianluca of Lisa Poggi Photography. These guys were wonderful to work alongside, everything you could every want in your wedding photographer; inspired, fun, friendly, respectful… I cannot recommend them enough.
Congratulations again Natalie and Chris… thank you so much for having me along and for choosing film to immortalize your most perfect day!

Sarah & Jamie | Eastbourne
SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | EASTBOURNE
Sarah and Jamie’s Wedding marks my first Spiritual Wedding ceremony… and what an absolute joy it was! I can honestly say I loved every second of it… they wrote it themselves and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house (or in the courtyard to be exact). With such a tranquil setting and a personal celebration of their love, I can see why a Spiritual ceremony is becoming more and more popular. “Nature is our church so we always wanted an outdoor ceremony that we could devise ourselves. We’re not traditional church goers and have alternative beliefs so we wanted to reflect that in the the style and wording of the ceremony. With the help of an interfaith minister, The Universe, energies, destiny and positivity could effortlessly be woven in without leaning towards a particular religion. We wanted to share this intimate part of ourselves with our nearest and dearest on our special day… We were free to create our own day and make it personal and unique to us.”
Photographing the occasion was my new buddy Naomi Kenton, who did such an incredible job… we got on so well, and it makes such a difference when the photographer and filmmaker work well together.
“The film is exactly what we’d hoped for. Beautiful, full of warmth and fun. The relaxed style really complimented what we hoped to achieve throughout the day – it’s truly something we’ll look at for years to come with utter delight, fondness and gratitude” -Sarah

Victoria & Richard | Hampton Manor
SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | HAMPTON MANOR
Hampton Manor is a boutique hotel nestled in the quaint town of Hampton in Arden, boasting beautiful, big and somewhat gothic rooms overlooking the wild landscape of the west midlands. Here Victoria and Richard said their ‘I do’s’ infront of family, friends and my super 8 cameras. ‘When we walked in it had a cosy, elegant, modern feel. It had such character from the outside, it felt grand and old, but the interior felt new and luxurious… and the food was amazing!
It has a quiet village setting and hidden down a long drive, which made it feel like a secret. We loved the fact we could walk between the church and the manor. Outdoor space was important to us, and we could use the lawn all afternoon.’
I was told that my film was a surprise present for Richard… ‘I wanted to get Rich an unusual gift to remember our day. His parents have cinefilm of him eating sand when he was 2, and of their own wedding and I love they way it brings people together to remember, or relive things they have forgotten or see people they have never met. I fell in love with your videos and knew you had to do ours. I love the authentic feel super 8 has. A photo can say a 1000 words, but your films seemed to capture the emotion and raw joy a photograph never could.’
‘Mark, I don’t know what to say! It is more than I ever imagined! This really is so amazing!! I have watched it about 25 times and I put the link on to fb, it seems like everyone else loved it just as much… What a beautiful day it was and you have captured it so beautifully. I don’t know how to thank you enough! Thank you so so much!’ -Victoria

Smriti & David | Shoreditch
SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | SHOREDITCH | LONDON
Happy New Year one and all. 2015 is shaping up to be quite the super 8 extravaganza… I have had some wonderful invitations and I cannot wait to share the finished results with you all right here. But until then, here it is… the LAST FILM of 2014… and what a grand finale! The very beautiful wedding of Smriti and David. November 1st was one of those perfect wintery sunny days in London… with long shadows, and a low sun that spills light beams into darkened rooms. This is definitely my favourite time of the year to film (provided the sun is out of course). Combine that with the streets of Shoreditch, the rooms of the Boundary Hotel and a reel of Kodak film! Glorious.
2014 has been amazing… I have met some truly wonderful people, traveled to beautiful new lands and watched some pretty awesome love stories unfold before my eyes… this next year has a lot to live up to. Thank you everyone who invited me to take part in their special day. It really means the world.
Let love rule!

Lucy & Max | the old rectory
SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | THE OLD RECTORY
Heading south east from London, toward Dover, the land begins to rise and dip, then suddenly you are out in it, all that green countryside, almost water colour, those perfect little hamlets, those winding roads leading down toward the English channel. In the midst of all that splendor was The Old Rectory, the family home, and the venue for Lucy and Max’s wedding day. ‘We got married at my family home because for us there was no more meaningful or special place to say ‘I do’ in front of all our family and friends. I spent so many happy days there – in childhood and as an adult - and Max has grown to love it too and thinks of it as another home. We have incredibly happy memories there together. My Grandmother, Sylvia, designed the garden in the 1960s, – the rosemary she planted was in my bouquet, and the rose garden was the most beautiful place to have the actual ceremony. There are so many magical places in the garden – like the little woodland that became a woodland bar in the evening twinkling with light – and having it at my family home gave us complete creative control over how it looked and felt. Everything felt so personal to us, and it made for a great atmosphere. We would never have got married anywhere else.’
Helping them with their dream was the London based events company and leading couture wedding planner, Snapdragon ‘we chose them as Julia really impressed us when we first met her and it meant that on the day itself we could enjoy the festivities and so could my parents, without having to coordinate anything. They were incredible with logistics and organisation, and had all the right contacts to translate all our ideas. Julia and her team were amazing on the day and in the lead up!’
Lucy went with a beautiful, simple yet sophisticated, high-neck Ritva Westenius dress… her bridesmaids in vintage.
For the photography they booked Pippa Mackenzie and she did such a good job… she was brilliant to work alongside of, I can’t recommend her enough.
On why they wanted Super 8 to immortalize their wedding day; ‘it was important to us that in addition to photographs we had some moving images of the day. Super8 film captures the feel of the day in a more romantic way than digital film – and the day itself is incredibly romantic. We knew Super8 would be able to capture the essence and the atmosphere because of this…
‘Thank you – from both of us. It’s really unbelievably beautiful – we are so so happy (and we both cried at our desks – we couldn’t wait to watch it together). It’s a work of art – and we get to relive the day – it really captures the spirit. Love it. Thank you!’ -Lucy

Georgie & Andy | Shoreditch
SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | TAB | SHOREDITCH | LONDON
… And here it is! The first film of 2014!
What better way to kick off the new year, than in my own back yard; the one, the only… Shoreditch! My favourite spot in London… so when Georgie and Andy invited me to shoot their big day I jumped at the chance! Especially when the style was ‘gypsy-boho’ meets ‘Teddy-boy suave’ slap bang in the centre of weirdsville “The venue was always going to have to be in East London. It’s where we met and have lived together for the last 5 ½ years. In terms of St. Leonard’s church and the Tab venue they kind of chose each other. We loved that they were so close and visually worked well together. I also liked the fact that the Tab was a bit of a blank canvas.”
This wedding also gave me the opportunity to work alongside the very talented Ellie Gillard for the third time! “I stalked Ellie’s work for a while on various blogs. I love her images, a mix of beautiful reportage captured moments, and quirky set up (alternative) shots.”
On why she decided to go for Super 8 Film; “I really love Super 8, it’s just so dreamy and enchanting, but it was more about picking you as a director / filmmaker. Your Films are beautifully crafted magical stories, we just had to have one of our own…
After many, many, many views, we absolutely LOVE it. It is stunning, Mark. The first time I watched it I cried my eyes out and every time after I enjoyed spotting something new. It’s just so beautifully put together!” -Georgie
What an amazing start to the year! Onwards and upwards!

Nicky & James | Shoreditch
SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | SHOREDITCH TOWN HALL | LONDON
Nicky looked… uh… right words failing me… stunning in her gorgeous Wedding Dress, designed by Alan Hannah.
What I loved about this Wedding was its simplicity… it goes to show that sometimes most is achieved by less, and the smaller ideas such as using a local cafe as your after party venue can go a long, long way. For me the wow factor was in the caterer, a miss Melissa Hughes, all the way from the USA, who has just started operating in London. I have never seen such a beautiful spread of nibbles in my life! Apparently Nicky and James planned all of this in just three months! I am in awe!
To get a better look at the dress, venues, their simple but stand out decoration and to marvel at the amazingness that is Nabeelscamera, click here. He is an incredible photographer and can’t wait to work with him again, he has encapsulated the feel of East London perfectly!
And there you have it! No.1 is done and dusted. The 2013 season is underway. There are some amazing Weddings on the horizon, and I cannot wait to show them to you all.
“OMG! Thank you so much – it is beautiful and awesome and special and you captured James and I and our day so brilliantly.” – Nicky

SUPER 8 WEDDING FILM | ICA | LONDON
This is one of my first films, and also one of my favourites... It's incredible to look at this beside my new films and see how far my style has developed over the past few years... and also how love shines on super 8, away from the ability to perfect shots and cuts and move process companies... 8mm loves love, and that's what I see here!
